As the year 2020 drew to a close, the performance of Europe's top theme park apps on unified platforms showcased a range of trends. This recap, based on data from Sensor Tower, offers a glimpse into how apps like Disneyland® Paris, Europa-Park & Rulantica, Alton Towers Resort — Official, THORPE PARK Resort – Official, and LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort fared in terms of user engagement and financial performance.
Starting with Disneyland® Paris, the app experienced a decrease in revenue from $26K at the beginning of November to $13K by the end of December. Downloads followed a similar downward trend, starting at over 18K in the week of October 12th and dwindling to just over 1.6K by the year's end. Weekly active users peaked at 57K in mid-October and gradually decreased to 25K by the last week of December.
The Europa-Park & Rulantica app saw its revenue fluctuate slightly, ending the quarter at $12K, similar to the starting figure of $27K in late September. Downloads, which were initially at 15K, dropped significantly to a few hundred per week, finishing at 352 in the final week. Active users also declined from 20K to just over 1.6K in the same period.
For Alton Towers Resort — Official, with no reported revenue, the focus shifts to downloads and active users. Downloads saw a dramatic decrease from 12K in late October to under 100 by December. Weekly active users mirrored this trend, starting at 17K and falling to 7.6K by the end of the quarter.
THORPE PARK Resort – Official also reported no revenue, but downloads peaked at over 10K in late October before dropping to just 64 in the last week of December. Active users reached their highest at 12K in the same peak month, then decreased to approximately 1.2K.
Lastly, the LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort app, which likewise generated no revenue, saw a decrease in downloads from 7K in mid-October to 141 in the final week. Active users started at over 11K in mid-October, with a downward trend to just under 3K by year's end.
